How do I send my files for transcription and are they secure?

At Type Transcripts, we recognise the importance of keeping clients’ data secure. Type Transcripts uses Citrix ShareFile which has SSL/TLS file encryption to safely transfer and store digital files. You can read more on File Security. You will be sent a secure link in an email to upload your files. Contact Us for a link now or follow the onscreen directions on the File Upload page.

Please find the Citrix ShareFile security audit report here. Transcripts and digital files are deleted within 30 days of completion of work in accordance with our policy and procedures. Transcribers who prepare the transcripts are all bound by the same policies and procedures.

Will you sign Confidentiality or Non-disclosure Agreements?

Yes, we are happy to sign non-disclosure agreements provided by a client. All transcribers are bound by strict non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements. A copy of this agreement is available to be viewed upon request.

Who will transcribe my audio recordings?

The team at Type Transcripts operate independently in their individual offices. All audio transcribers are bound by strict confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements. The team work in remote offices around Australia and Type Transcripts DOES NOT outsource any transcription work offshore. The team are all very experienced and skilled audio typists and regular quality checks are maintained to ensure you get the highest quality transcript every time. The team have extensive experience in academic transcription, legal transcription, medico-legal transcription, research transcription and interview transcription.

Whilst the physical skill for transcription services is typing, language skills are the primary skills we look for in our transcribers. To produce a quality and precise transcript, transcribers must have excellent language skills, punctuation skills and have local and regional context to enable them to identify specific terminology, places, people and events. This is why Type Transcripts does not outsource offshore.

Projects are coordinated by the Project Coordinator who assigns your audio recordings, collates and proofs your completed transcripts ensuring deadlines are met. This ensures your transcription project is handled with efficiency and professionalism.

How long will the transcription service take?

General turnaround times are between 2-3 business days. Urgent, same day and 24 hour turnarounds are available upon request and subject to resourcing. There is an additional charge for these priority transcripts.

Larger projects are completed over a longer turnaround and completed transcripts are returned every 2-3 days during the course of the project.

What are your office hours?

Type Transcripts will respond to inquiries 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and on weekends as available. Transcription takes place seven days a week and we also offer overnight turnarounds for urgent work, both during the week and on weekends.

What file types do you accept?

Type Transcripts accepts all popular audio formats, however MP3 files will upload and transfer more quickly online. You can convert your files using this free converter tool from the NCH Software site.

What will my transcription cost?

Type Transcripts charges a fixed cost per recorded minute. Our transcription rates are charged per audio minute and pricing will vary according to the types of recordings you need transcribed, the quality of the audio, number of speakers, whether there are thick accents and the desired turnaround time for completion of your transcript. Giving a fixed price per recorded minute means you will know the exact cost of your transcription upfront. For example, a 45 minute interview will be calculated as 45 x rate per audio minute plus GST. A 70 minute interview will cost 70 x rate per audio minute plus GST.

What are the payment options and terms?

For business clients, invoices are issued and payment terms are 30 days. Direct debit is the preferred form of payment.

Type Transcripts accepts credit card payments via Bpoint which is a Commonwealth Bank online merchant service.

For private clients, payment is requested upfront prior to commencing your transcription. Evidence of online bank transfer payment via credit card is required.

Type Transcripts has been transcribing for a broad range of industries and specialises in legal transcription, finance transcription, market research transcription, insurance transcription, academic transcription, workplace investigators and media transcription. Type Transcripts is an Australian online transcription service with a very reputable client base in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Adelaide, Perth and everywhere in between. We also service the media clients in London with overnight turnarounds for their radio and media programs. Location is not an issue as the service operates totally online.
